How to Brew Your Tea
This is a simple how-to guide that takes you step-by-step on how to brew each of our six types of tea at TWT: Black, Chai, Green, Herbal, Oolong, and Rooibos. Because each category of tea leaf and herb is different, many factors will affect the flavor of each tea blend and the overall tasting experience. The variables that you need to be aware of include the brewing hardware, water temperature, steep time, dosage, and quality of water. Since we’re assuming you will be making a cup (or thermos) of tea using our tea sachets, however, you don’t need to worry about the brewing vessel for now (although, stay tuned for a loose leaf launch later this year!)
For each type of tea below, we recommend using 8 oz. of water for every one (1) tea sachet. For example, if you have a 16 oz. thermos, we recommend using two tea sachets to ensure that your brewed tea is not diluted and weak-tasting. Also, for those of you (like me) that like your tea extra strong, we recommend two tea sachets for every 8 oz. of water. In the mornings, I usually power up with either a cup of Matcha or an 8 oz. mug with two tea sachets of English Breakfast (and refill at least 2x) 🚀
Black Tea
For our Black teas, we recommend steeping at a water temperature of 212ºF for 5 minutes.
Chai
For our Chai teas, we recommend steeping at a water temperature of 212ºF for 5 minutes.
Green
For our Green teas, we recommend steeping at a water temperature of 170ºF for 3-5 minutes.
Herbal
For our Herbal teas, we recommend steeping at a water temperature of 212ºF for 5 minutes.
Oolong
For our Oolong teas, we recommend steeping at a water temperature of 190ºF for 4-5 minutes.
Rooibos
For our Rooibos teas, we recommend steeping at a water temperature of 212ºF for 5 minutes.
